A Fascinating Hidden Art

Colleen Theisen provided a fantastic gif she generated that shows a thing known as fore-edge painting, placed at the edge of a 1837 publication called Autumn by Robert Mudie. Fore-edge painting that is believed to date back around the 1650s, is actually a technique of hiding an artwork on the border of a book, and will remain visible only once the pages are fanned out.
